Earl and Ashley

It took us months to complete this testimonial for Michael and his work, but as we looked back on his art after the whirlwind of events that a wedding brings, words are difficult to encapsulate the magic that Michael was able to capture and create.

My wife and I are not models and more than just a little awkward in front of a camera. When we worked with Michael, we didn’t know what to expect but trusted in his process. We worked with Michael for an engagement and wedding photography sessions and didn’t expect to have so much fun.

Michael's warm personality and skills behind the lens made our sessions easy to open up to. We have never done a photoshoot together, so our poses started stiff. Michael was patient and gave us time to warm up to the camera. After a short while, we were ourselves with pointers from Michael. We loved his style of leading the shoot where all of our inputs were really considered and applied, and when it didn't work Michael would come save the day with a different pose or action. His mastery of turning the mundane into art was a joy to be a part of. We would pass a door or stairwell that was run down, but he saw character and a canvas to work with.

Michael describes his style as whimsical, but we felt that was understating his work. It is true that his final work reflects his whimsical style, but he curates the setting where he really delves into different styles and evokes mood, raw emotion, and captures the moments of why my wife and I chose each other in the first place. We have photographs of his style dipping into editorial, photojournalistic, black and white, and truly fine art. These pieces are hung and laid on our walls and phone screens for our eyes to wander to and smile.

We had the idea of finding a photographer to take pictures for us to remember, but what we found was a friend that captured moments that we relive. Thanks for everything Michael.
